Appgate appoints a new CEO, Trellix hires loanDepot’s CISO, SANS Institute taps new CISO director.

Rubrik appointed former Microsoft chairman John W. Thompson as lead independent director.

Secure access solutions provider Appgate appointed Leo Taddeo as chief executive officer and president. Taddeo stepped into the new role after serving as Appgate’s chief information security officer since February of 2022.

The SANS Institute, a cybersecurity training company, appointed Ciaran Martin to direct its CISO Network and Summits Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Martin was the founder and first CEO of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre.

Zero trust data management company Rubrik appointed former Microsoft chairman John W. Thompson as independent director. Thompson is the former chief executive of Symantec, chairman of Illumina, and partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Cybersecurity posture automation company Balbix added Marene Allison to its board of directors. Allison previously served as vice president and CISO of Johnson & Johnson.

Georgia Technology Authority appointed Steve Hodges as State CISO. He comes to GTA from the Georgia Department of Revenue where he served as senior IT security manager and disclosure officer.

Information technology consultant Alpha Omega Integration hired Laks Prabhala as chief information security officer and vice president of security. Prabhala previously served as Accenture Federal’s security account lead for CISO and zero trust advisory services.

Extended detection and response provider Trellix hired Harold Rivas as chief information security officer. He previously held the same position at LoanDepot, a mortgage lender. Rivas held executive roles at Santander, Fujitsu, and Citi prior to his role at LoanDepot. Trellix was created from the 2021 merger of cybersecurity giants McAfee Enterprise and FireEye.

San Francisco, Calif. and Belrose, Australia-based venture capital firm Ballistic Ventures announced its chief information security officer-in residence program with David Hahn acting as their inaugural CISO-in residence. Hahn previously worked in the financial industry, serving as Chief Security Officer for Silicon Valley Bank.

Information technology consultant Eliassen Group hired Rob Waddell as its first chief information officer and executive vice president.

Low-code platform Quickbase hired Comcast’s former vice president of IT Dalan Winbush as chief information officer.

Texas Department of Information Resources appointed Niel Cooke as statewide chief data officer. Cooke has worked for various Texas agencies throughout his career, most recently serving as the Department of Information Resources’ Data Officer.
