FireEye’s Mandiant acquired Intrigue, and NortonLifeLock acquires Avast. Tessian extends its Series C funding round, and OwnBackup completes a Series E funding round.


Mergers and Acquisitions


NortonLifeLock, an Arizona-based cybersecurity company, has announced its acquisition of Avast, a Czech Republic-based security software developer, for approximately $8 billion. With the acquisition, the two companies will have greater scale in threat visibility, a geographically distributed cloud data platform, and advanced A.I.-based automation and classification capabilities, says Avast chief executive officer Ondrej Vlcek.


Mandiant, the FireEye-owned provider of incident response and computer forensics solutions, has acquired Intrigue, an attack surface management startup based in . The move comes as an attempt to bolster the Mandiant Advantage SaaS platform.


Extreme Networks, a cloud-driven networking solutions company headquartered in California, has announced its intent to acquire Ipanema, Infovista’s software-defined networking in a wide area network (SD-WAN) business. The acquisition will allow Extreme Networks to offer new cloud-managed SD-WAN and security solutions.


Funding


Tessian, a San Francisco-based enterprise security company , has extended its Series C funding round, raising $74 million in total. The company secured investments from Okta Ventures, Citi Ventures, and Sozo Ventures as a part of the extension.


CYBAVO, a blockchain security solution provider based in Singapore, has completed its Pre-series A funding round, raising $4 million. The round was co-led by 500 Startups, H&D Asset Management Company, and New Economy Ventures.


OwnBackup, a data security company based in New Jersey, has raised $240 million in a Series E funding round co-led by Alkeon Capital and B Capital Group, and also fulfilled by a secondary investment in the company by BlackRock Private Equity Partners and Tiger Global.
